***Thursday, November 10th -
"The Lord giveth & the Lord taketh away! Blessed be the name of the Lord!" Jesus & His angels came for Bishop Haney this morning! He went very peacefully!!! In God's army a 5 star General has gone home! God never makes a mistake! He heard our prayers! "Thy Kingdom come! Thy will be done!" God's will has been done! The doctor just came in & said to me. "My mother use to tell me, "When you live a good life, you will have a peaceful passing!' He said, "This is the first peaceful passing I've seen!" We love all of you & thank you for your prayers!!! ...Joy Haney

The Vision
On April 15, 1935, Harmony Hall, located in a storefront at 36 South American Street, was founded by Pastor Frank Vanbuskirk and the Haney Family. In 1936, Clyde Haney started the very first bus route while assisting Pastor Vanbuskirk.
On November 1, 1936, this congregation moved into a new church building located at 1700 East Willow Street and was now called Pentecostal Harmony Chapel. On November 15, 1946, Clyde Haney became pastor of this church.
In 1947, construction began on a new church building located at 1700 East Harding Way. The first service was held in the basement on August 26, 1947. The auditorium was completed and held its first service on March 17, 1948. The name of the church was also changed to First Pentecostal Church.
In June of 1961, construction began on another new facility located at 1950 Cherokee Road. The first services were held in the new sanctuary on September 10, 1961.
In 1971, Pastor Clyde Haney was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Several months after his passing, his son Kenneth Haney accepted the pastorate of the First Pentecostal Church.
Under Pastor Kenneth Haney’s leadership, another new church building was constructed at 9025 West Lane. The first services were held in this facility on February 21, 1978. In April of that year the building was officially dedicated as Christian Life Center. This building, with a seating capacity of 2,500, still holds the main business offices of Christian Life Center and is now surrounded by buildings for Christian Life College, Stockton Christian School, and the radio station KYCC.
In September of 2001, Kenneth Haney was elected as the General Superintendant of the United Pentecostal Church International. Soon after, on November 7, 2001, his son Nathaniel Haney was elected as the new pastor of Christian Life Center.
After many years of work and sacrifice, on January 18, 2004, Christian Life Center relocated to its present location at 4303 Christian Life Way. The main auditorium of this facility seats approximately 5,800 people and is the current host site of our annualLandmark Conference and To The Chief Musician Music Conference
Remembering Rev. Kenneth Haney
By Rev. Steven Masone
Rev Kenneth Haney took the torch from his father Rev. Clyde J.Haney and passed it to his son Rev. Nathaniel Haney in 2001 when Kenneth was elected General Superintendent of the United Pentecostal Church International.

The vision to bring the Gospel of Jesus to Stockton California went beyond all expectations of most who helped Christian life Church not only become one of the largest congregations in the country, but seeing it having worldwide impact through the training of ministers and missionaries through Christian Life College and Rev. Kenneth Haney's tireless effort and sacrifice as General Superintendent of the UPCI where his leadership helped spark and maintain world-wide growth and revival to the nations.
From KCJH & KYCC radio now with worldwide reach, and the Good Samaritan Center which Kenneth started in the early 90's, the vision goes on through the thousands of ministers who have gone out and started churches and ministries from homeless outreach, Bible based substance abuse counseling, prison ministry, orphans and elderly outreach and the list goes on.
Respected by religious leaders of many faiths, Rev Kenneth Haney is known as a "bridge builder" and peacemaker. While at the helm of the United Pentecostal Church International during turbulent times, he stayed the course and refused to be a divider, standing firm in the spirit of christian love and mercy until his term and purpose was fulfilled.
I had the privilege to sit under his tutelage and I learned so many valuable life lessons and leadership skills that will be passed on to those I serve. He taught me about servant-hood. I remember when one minister described a parishioner of being a "time waster" because she was afflicted with mental issues and was constantly requesting ministry to come and anoint her house. He admonished the brother that there are no time wasters, and that we must minister to all human pain and anguish. He would personally see this sister at least once a week praying with her and not discounting her pain...because... he said,  " it is real to her!" I started a church in south Stockton and when he asked me what I needed... I told him "a pulpit" and he gave me the old pulpit that was used by himself his father Clyde J. Haney for many years. I treasure it to this day. While he will be greatly missed... his vision lives. While heaven is "brighter" the lives he touched and the world he affected will still treasure the light that shines from the torch he passed to his many spiritual sons and daughters who share the vision.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. "-Proverbs 29:18.

  1. Bishop Kenneth Haney has had a lifelong profound positive impact not only on my life, but on the lives of my classmates, the class of 1986.
